About Us

A Second Set of Hands was originally thought of by a group of Radnor students who had connections with loved ones who had battled cancer. We had first handly seen the journey through a cancer diagnosis and how it affects family, and having gone through that wanted to help others going through a similar experience. We originally approached our administration in November 2020 seeking out help to get SSoH started, and with their help received board approval in January of 2021. Since then, we have been working together with our Faculty Sponsor, Dr. Alexis Swinehart, our administrators, and other local hospitals and organizations to turn A Second Set of Hands from a dream into a reality.

Our leadership team is made up of sixteen Radnor High School students ranging from grades nine through twelve. There are two branches of our leaders, eight executive leaders who oversee specific fields, as well as eight ambassadors who act as voices for their respective grades to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. There are two ambassadors per grade. All leaders are appointed by the President and Vice-President after a short application process held in the spring of the school year.

As of April 2021, our general club membership has 75 Radnor High School Students ranging from grades nine to twelve who actively participate in club activities and events. Any Radnor High School Student is allowed to and encouraged to become a member of SSoH at any point in time. Students: if you are interested in joining please reach out to any peer in SSoH or your grade's ambassador so you can be added to the GroupMe.
